China Boy Holly

Vigorous grower makes an ideal hedge or low screen. Its dense branching habit takes shearing well, displays deep green lustrous foliage. This male variety does not produce berries; it will provide pollen to enable berry set on nearby female hollies. Works well for borders, hedges, and screening. Prefers moist, fertile, slightly acid, well-drained soil. Sun/ part shade. Needs China Girl for cross pollination.


China Girl Holly

Easily grown in average, medium moisture soil in full sun to part shade. Adaptable to both light and heavy soils, but prefers moist, acidic, organic soils with good drainage. A dioecious shrub: CHINA GIRL is a female plant and CHINA BOY is a companion male plant. Produces the attractive red berries which are so conspicuous in fall and winter. A planting needs at least one CHINA BOY within 400′ as a pollinator for up to 9-10 CHINA GIRL plants. Good winter hardiness.
